First Pass Yield Definition.

Find out what is the first pass yield (FPY), also known as throughput yield (FPY), is defined as the number of good units coming out of a process divided by the number of (good and bad) units going into that process over a specified period of time.

Only good units with no rework or scrap are counted as coming out of an individual process. What is the first pass yield

Sometimes the first pass yield (%FPY) is represented as a percentage, in this case, just multiply by 100 to obtain the %FPY.

It represents the standard ratio or percentage of good units obtained from one particular process during a period of time.

The %FPY value can be used to compare the results and output with other processes or periods of time.

The biggest values of %FPY close to 100% are better, meanwhile, lower values are bad.
