Poke-Yoke Definition

Poka-yoke is a Japanese word that means “mistake-proofing” or “inadvertent human error prevention”.

A poka-yoke is any mechanism in a lean manufacturing process that helps an equipment operator avoid mistakes.

A poka-yoke device is one that prevents incorrect parts from being made or assembled or easily identifies a flaw or error.

For example, if you have a modern printer, you could notice that the printer cartridges or toner can only be introduced in one way (the correct manner) otherwise they cannot fit and enter into the printer.
